Costume Build – Loki – Part 1

So I’d been searching for my first cosplay for a while and I have researched several different characters I think I can pull off. I finally decided on trying to build a Loki. I haven’t personally seen anyone doing Loki in any of my local cosplay groups but I have heard of one, but only one. So I figured why not. His outfit doesn’t look that hard and I needed an “easy” one to start with. After all, I haven’t done much sewing since middle school, around the early 90s and that was only pillowcases.

I started with the tunic. The first thing I did was to find a pattern. I used a free t-shirt pattern found here and modified it. I printed out the pattern and redrew it on a sheet of pattern paper adding in the extra length and design changes. This was a challenge for me since I’ve never tried to follow a clothing pattern much less alter one so it took me a couple of tries to get it close enough. I transferred the pattern to muslin material and cut it out. It fits my duct tape dummy pretty well.

Please ignore the mess.

This is as far as I’ve got so far. I’m a little stuck now that I have to make the coat. I haven’t found an easily alterable coat pattern so next might work on the pants. Pants should be easy… right?

Coming Soon Part 2… Hopefully.
